Celebrating 2011 on the Water

New Year's Eve has always been a family holiday. Tom's birthday is January 1st so ever since the kids could stay awake we celebrated his birthday at 12:01am after eating the night away at home. This year Thomas & Natalie were going to be in Kentucky and Charlie & Michele were in Ohio so we decided to go with the flow and do something totally different. Tom found a small paddle boat that was offering two "cruises". A dinner one and then a cocktail one. We decided to do BOTH and take Jen, Shawn and the kids on the dinner one and then we came back for the later one and just he and I celebrated the new year watching fireworks from the deck. The kids called at midnight and the crew in Kentucky even sang him Happy Birthday. We had a great time and now Tom wants to charter the boat for our 35th wedding anniversary in two years.
